1층 공간은 인간의 문명을 이끈 도구를 상징합니다. 입구에 들어서면 만나게 되는 거대한 에어-매스는 수많은 사진 조각의 이미지로 형상화되어 있습니다. 도구의 발명이 문명을 건설했듯, 조각에서도 혁신적인 재료와 방법론의 변화는 새로운 예술을 태동시켰습니다. 돌과 청동이라는 무거운 고전의 요소들을 사진과 공기라는 가벼운 대칭의 물성으로 바꾸어 조각의 정의를 새롭게 해 온 작가의 실험은 그 자체로 이미 많은 영감을 부여합니다. Galaxy S26 Series의 존재 역시 기술의 차원에서 가장 고도화된 도구로 전시됩니다. 원시시대 나뭇가지와 돌도끼에서 비롯된 도구의 출발이 현재에 도착해 이룬 정점의 작품이기 때문입니다. 예술과 기술의 협업으로 탄생한 권오상 작가의 에어-매스는 이러한 철학을 별의 이미지로 담아 표현합니다. ‘빅뱅’으로부터 출발한 인류의 시작과 오늘날 그 인류가 나아가려고 하는 무한의 공간인 ‘우주’를 동시에 상징합니다.
The first floor of the exhibition symbolizes the devices that have propelled human civilization forward. Upon entering, visitors encounter a striking Air-Mass, an inflatable sculpture composed of countless fragments of photographic images. Just as the invention of tools enabled the building of civilization, innovations in materials and methodologies have sparked new beginnings in the history of sculpture. By replacing heavy, classical elements such as stone and bronze into their lightweight modern counterparts, photography and air, the artist redefines what sculpture can be. This exploration of material and form itself offers a powerful source of inspiration. Galaxy S26 Series is also presented as a device at the pinnacle of technological evolution, a culmination that began with primitive branches and stone axes. Created through a collaboration between art and technology, Gwon Osang’s Air-Mass encapsulates this philosophy through images of stars. It evokes both the 'Big Bang,' where humanity’s origin story begins, and the vast 'cosmos' toward which our civilization continues to reach.
